[Edgar Wallace and Merian C. Cooper].  King Kong conceived by Edgar Wallace and Merian C. Cooper; screenplay by James A. Creelman and Ruth Rose; novelized from the radio picture by Delos W. Lovelace . NY: Grosset and Dunlap, [1932].

First Edition. 8” x 5.5”. [6], 250 pp. Publisher’s green cloth, titles stamped in brown to front board and spine, top edge stained brown, sepia endpapers illustrated with film stills; color-illustrated jacket in second, corrected state. Ownership marks to both flyleaves and bottom edge, some offsetting from four clipped film images pasted to preliminaries, title page, and foot of p.152; small cello-tape remnants to jacket flaps and front pastedown. With ephemera laid in: single folded leaf advertisement for Worcester, MA film debut on June 4, 1933.

A First Edition copy of this novelization published just before the blockbuster’s release in March 1933, in a brilliant example of the dust jacket depicting Kong in three lively illustrations. Additionally, the idiosyncratic markings and material additions offer an interesting glimpse into contemporary ownership practices. [Viejo, Film Books 13.2]
